I’m Mercedes, a senior in the Neuroscience undergraduate program at Georgia State University. I transferred into the Neuroscience program from Biology. Shortly after entering the program, I began working in Dr. Petrulis’ lab. I assist in behavior, tissue acquisition, and immunohistochemistry. A majority of my involvement has been assisting with a project exploring the effect of GABA on social behavior in mice. I am also the self-nominated and self-elected lab cheerleader. One of my goals is to become a physician scientist, specifically a neurologist that studies degenerative disease neuropathology. In my free time, I spoil my miniature schnauzer, Madam Curie, and fiddle around with my Arduino Uno.
