I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky and decided to move to Atlanta to finish my B.S. in Psychology at Georgia State University. It was during this time I developed my interests in the neurobiology of behavior. In particular, I am interested in motivational behavior and the evolution of limbic systems in the brain. In the Petrulis Lab, I’m working on understanding the role of GABA in critical social regions including the medial amygdala, bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, and the medial preoptic area. Outside of lab, I play video games, teach myself Japanese, write music, read sci-fi/fantasy books, and play fetch with my awesome dog, Ryu.
